Kristi Boonzaaier

Composer, Orchestrator & Classicist

Kristi Boonzaaier is a composer trained in classical music. He is a co-founder of PolyForge Media and specializes in orchestral scoring and orchestration. He is influenced by various classical and popular genres and enjoys writing for stylistically demanding projects.

He completed his BMus degree Cum Laude from Stellenbosch University in 2015. He received his Masters degree in Composition and Classical Music Marketing under the tutelage of Prof. Hans Roosenschoon. His studies included conducting studies with Prof. Corvin Matei and Martin Berger. He is also a highly proficient clarinettist, receiving lessons from Arissa Voges, Maria du Toit and Justin Carter.

As a conductor, he has received master classes from
numerous reknowned conductors including Arjan Tien and Rik Ghesquière and has conducted the KOMPOS orchestra and the Stellenbosch University Symphonic Wind Ensemble in 2012 and 2013 respectively in performances in the Endler Hall.

​

Kristi recently returned to South Africa after teaching music at an International School in Shanghai, China. He has travelled extensively around the world and participated in several competitions.

 

His works has been performed globally and by numerous soloists, ensembles, choirs and orchestras. He has composed music for numerous media projects which has aired on national television and performed at national festivals such as Woordfees. His classical training and international experience allows him to bring a refinedness to any score.
