Reghardt Kühn started his music career in high school, learning piano, euphonium, and trombone. He won the South African Marching Band Championships twice as part of the Empangeni Marching Band and formed part of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Youth Orchestra for three years as euphonist and trombonist.

In his undergradutate degree, he majored in composition under the tutelage of Prof. Hans Roosenschoon, and orchestral conducting in his postgraduate degree under the tutelage of Prof. Corvin Matei.

In 2014 he was appointed as the resident conductor of the Stellenbosch University Medical Orchestra, a tertiary level orchestra consisting of students, lecturers, and practising physicians, and is the first of its kind in South Africa. In 2016 Reghardt has been appointed as assistant conductor of the University of Stellenbosch Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conductor of the Sans Souci Girls High School Orchestra and conductor and brass teacher at Wynberg Boys’ Junior School. In March 2017 he left his school positions at Sans Souci and Wynberg to become the full-time brass teacher and orchestra conductor at Paarl Boys’ High School.
